Hand Towel Wedding Cake
Towels are often present on wedding gift registrys. Yet presenting them in an exciting way can often be troublesome. A hand towel wedding cake is a perfect example of hand towel crafts at their most simple and effective.
Perhaps the most original and eyecatching presentation method is to make the towels into a 'cake'! The color of the towels can be chosen to suit the theme of the wedding, but the most popular color is of course white.
The process is remarkably simple given the spectacular end result. Simply buy the towels, making sure the set has at least three different sizes of towels.
Take the largest towel. Fold it in half lengthwise twice. Depending on the size of the towel you may need to fold it more times. Then roll it lengthwise. The end result is a 'cake' layer! Repeat the process with the other towels in the set.
There are several ways to hold these layers together to stop them unravelling. A safety pin works well, but make sure you put it through the label rather than the towel itself. Another method is to use wide white elastic or similar, which will be hidden later.
The layers can then be stacked on top of each other. Three, or even four layers, is ideal. Any more and the cake becomes rather top heavy.
You can now add the finishing touches to your creation. Lace type ribbon makes an ideal cake like decoration, and can be used to hide the elastic which is holding the cake together. Basically anything goes here, with the end objective being to make the towels look as much like a cake as possible. Things like little wedding bells, ribbon and bride and groom ornaments really add to the illusion. A cake plate can be used as a further prop.
The end result is a wonderful example of hand towel crafts.
